Neighbourhood against new Student Cafe

Residents will soon start a signature action against the announced opening of a student cafe at the corner of the Breulingstraat and Boschstraat in Maastricht. They fear nuisance and refer to the time student association Tragos was located in this neighbourhood: lots of noise in the night, broken glass, and intimidating remarks according to local residents.

The student cafe, which runs on a number of disputes, replaces cafe de Oase at the Brusselsestraat.

The new students cafe will be open three days per week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On other days the pub will be let to third parties.

Neighbourhood platforms on both sides of the Boschstraat support the residents. They blame the City of Maastricht that they have not been informed at an earlier stage. The platforms refer to the town signed agreement "Buurtgericht Werken".
